Student Service Hours Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of photos should I take to document my card-making efforts?
A: CFHK does not have a specific required format for photos. The type of photos vary from student to student, such as:
Q: How many photos do I need to take of the cards?
A: The number of photos varies especially depending on how many service hours being completed/ requested. We simply ask that you take enough photos to reasonably document your efforts--including both the front and inside of the cards. It is recommended not to leave large gaps in terms of what is requested vs what is documented. If there is a gap between what is requested and what is documented by the student, we will likely be unable to verify your service. For example, if the student is requesting 40 hours but only took photos of the first 2 hours worth of cards.....that is very hard to verify. It also takes longer to process the service request if a student provides very little documentation of their efforts. There is no such thing as "over-documenting" your card-making efforts.
Q: Is there a limit on the number of service hours someone can earn?
A: No, there is not. CFHK has had students earn anywhere from less than one hour, to 500+ service hours. There is no limit as long as the student satisfactory documents their card-making efforts. For large number of service hours (10-500), it's best to thoroughly document your entire card-making process.
Q: How long is the turnaround time for service forms and verification letters?
A: Service requests in which the student provides the required materials, and reasonably documents their efforts, are processed very quickly-- within 1-3 business days. It takes longer to process the request if the student fails to submit the required materials (photos and time log) and/or if there are concerns regarding the number of requested hours due to lack of documentation.
In such cases where there are concerns, such as not providing enough documentation, it takes longer to process the service request because CFHK must contact the student or parent and look further into the matter.
A: CFHK does not have a specific required format for photos. The type of photos vary from student to student, such as:
- Scanning each card via Adobe mobile scan app or other similar apps.
- Submitting individual photos of each card (front and inside) for anywhere from 10 cards to 500 cards.
- Taking individual photos of each card and collaging them together.
- Taking overview shots of many cards laid out together (10-500) at once.
