Making Holiday Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK) distributes holiday cards for all major holidays.  Making holiday cards is very similar to making general cards. The only difference is that you include a happy holiday message rather than just a general one. Making holiday cards is a great way to celebrate the season and give back.

Being in the hospital and battling a health condition is difficult at any time, but especially during the holidays. This is why CFHK strives to give holiday cards to as many hospitalized kids as possible each holiday season. We hope you will help by making cards.  The next holiday CFHK needs cards for is: Halloween/Fall and Thanksgiving and Christmas/winter-time holidays.

Q: Can I also write general messages along with holiday messages?
A: Yes, you can also include general messages from the Make Cards section, such as “Stay Strong” or “Never Forget How Amazing YOU Are” etc., with holiday messages. It is up to you.

Can I see photos of holiday cards previously sent to CFHK?

A: Yes, you can view photos here. There are also many photos on our Facebook page and other social media.

A: What are the rules regarding glitter, and other similar craft products?
A: As with general cards, the only rule is that it's not excessive to the point of falling off, as that can create health concerns for some patients. A good way to test your glitter is to rub your finger over it and ensure none rubs off.

Q: Can I write “Merry Christmas” on holiday cards?
A: Yes. However, if possible, we recommend you also make some cards, for patients that don’t celebrate Christmas, with other holiday messages, such as: “Happy Hanukkah” , “Happy New Year”  , “Happy Holidays”.

Q: When can I send in my holiday cards?
A: Holiday cards can be sent to us at any time. There is no concern for sending them “too early”, only too late.

Q: What is the deadline for sending holiday cards?
A: In order to ensure enough time for distribution, we prefer to receive holiday cards 2 weeks prior to the holiday. It is preferred to receive them sooner if possible. However, we can accept them up to 5 days prior to the holiday. Cards that don't arrive in time for distribution are saved for the holiday the following year.
