Q: Does CFHK accept cards year-round?
A: Yes, we do.

Q: How often can I send cards?
A: Cards can be sent in as often as you would like to do so. We distribute general cards monthly as well as holiday cards for all major holidays.

Q: Can I send the cards together in one large envelope or package rather than individual envelopes?

A: Absolutely, receiving cards together in one envelope / package is preferred as it makes the sorting process easier for the CFHK team.

Q: Does CFHK need cards in Spanish, as well?
A: Yes! We definitely need cards written in Spanish.

Q: What is the deadline for sending holiday cards?
A: We prefer to receive them at least 2 weeks prior to the holiday to ensure enough distribution time. However, we can accept cards up until 7 days before the holiday. Any cards that do not arrive in time are saved for the following year.

Q: Can we write "Merry Christmas" on holiday cards?

A: Yes. We also recommend making a few cards that simply say "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Hanukkah" for kids that don't celebrate Christmas.

Q: What hospitals are the cards distributed to?
A: Cards are not given to a single hospital. We give cards to hospitals around the USA as well as Ronald McDonald Houses (RMH).

Q: Where do I mail the cards?
A:  Cards for Hospitalized Kids, 7290 W. Devon Ave., Chicago, IL 60631

Q: Should I address the card to a specific person?
A:  No. Please address the card generally since we do not yet know the child's name.

Q: Should I sign my name on the card?
A:  Yes, please sign your first name on the card. If you'd like, you can also sign your state, such as "Jen from Washington D.C".

Q: Does each card need an individual envelope?
A: No, the cards do not need to be in envelopes.

Q: How do I refer a child to receive a card from CFHK?
A: Please submit the referral via our "Request a Card" form.

Q: Can I earn service hours for making cards?
A: Yes! We have had students across the country successfully earn service hours. You can find additional information on this in the "Volunteer" section.
