Earn Volunteer Service Hours by Making Cards for CFHK
CFHK has had students, across the country, of all education levels (elementary, middle & high school, and college students) successfully do so, as well as adults seeking to earn service hours for work, programs, etc. Making cards for CFHK is a great way to give back and fulfill service requirements. Using our guidelines, students and individuals can earn service hours by making and donating cards to us.
Simply make your cards, send them to CFHK, and include a cover letter, with your cards, requesting service hours (include the number of hours requested). As long as the donation and service hours request are reasonable, we will send a verification letter and/or form signature confirming service hours. The letter and/or signed form can be sent by email or by mail via USPS (be sure to include your email in the cover letter).
Service hours requests will only be considered when accompanied by a card donation. Emailed pictures of cards alone will not suffice. Please also allow adequate time for the cards to be delivered to CFHK and processed.
Long-Term Volunteering: If you are seeking to make cards for CFHK as part of a long-term volunteer project (such as: for a school course, Eagle Scout Project, etc), you can absolutely do so! Please include this in your cover letter so our team can keep track of your hours over time. You can also email CFHK to keep us up to date if you wish to do so as you complete your service
Electronic Verification Requests: For electronic service verification requests, such as Mobile Serve or X2VOL, students should include a cover letter, mentioning the electronic verification request, so it can be confirmed upon receipt of the cards. The electronic request can be emailed to [email protected].
If you have any questions about the process of earning service hours, please feel free to contact us. First, you may want to see if your questions can be answered in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section below.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How many service hours do I receive per card?
A: Students frequently ask this question. However, CFHK does not have a formula in which a certain number of cards quals a certain number of service hours. The reason for this is everyone is different, and has their own creativity/ artistic skills. Therefore, people typically spend different lengths of time making each individual card.
Q: What do I need to include in my cover letter?
A: There is no specific required. The student just needs to state their service hours request, the number of hours requested, whether they'd like to receive their service letter / form via email and/or mail, etc.
Q: How are service hours calculated?
A: CFHK awards the number of service hours solely based on how much time the student spent making cards for CFHK.
Q: Is a time-log required?
A: It is helpful to include a time-log or list of the dates you made cards and time spent. You can include this with your cover letter.
