Students and individuals can absolutely earn service hours for their time spent making cards for CFHK. We have had students, across the country, of all education levels (elementary, middle & high school, and college students) successfully do so.

The overall process is fairly simple: students make cards using CFHK's card-making guidelines and then send them to CFHK for distribution in hospitals. Along the way, the student must document their efforts by taking photos of the cards and keeping a time log.

When finished, the student can send the photos and time-log to CFHK via email at Info@CardsForHospitalizedKids.com along with any service forms they need signed. We can then sign the forms and/or write a verification letter on letterhead.

If we have any concerns about the number of hours logged, we will reach out to the student or parent prior to verifying their hours. However, such cases are rare because most students are honest in logging their hours spent making cards.

If you have any questions about the process of earning service hours, documenting them or the process overall, please feel free to Contact us. You can also view our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)s for service hours below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many service hours do I receive per card?
A: Students frequently ask, “how many service hours do I receive per card?”. We do not have a formula in which a certain number of cards equals a certain number of service hours. The reason for this is everyone is different, and has their own creativity and artistic skills. Therefore, people typically spend different lengths of time making each individual card.

Q: How are service hours calculated?
A: CFHK awards the number of service hours solely based on how much time the student spent making cards for CFHK.

Q: Can you verify service hours electronically?
A: Absolutely! CFHK regularly verifies service hours electronically via programs such as Mobile Serve, X2VOL, etc.. The student can have the verification request sent to CFHK via email at Info@CardsForHospitalizedKids.com. The student must still submit photos of their cards and a time log.

Q: When should I email my photos & time log to CFHK?
A: Please send these to CFHK when it is time to verify your service.
