Students and individuals can earn service hours for their time spent making cards for CFHK. We have had students, across the country, of all education levels (elementary, middle & high school, and college students) successfully do so, as well as adults seeking to earn service hours for work, programs, etc.
The process is fairly simple: students make cards using CFHK's card-making guidelines and send them to CFHK for distribution in hospitals. Along the way, the student must document their card-making efforts by taking photos or scans of the cards and keeping a time log. It's best to photograph both the front + inside of the cards--either individually or together. It's also important to document your entire card-making process. If there's a large gap between what is requested and what is documented by the student, we'll be unable to verify your efforts. Overall, it's best to be thorough. There is no such thing as "over-documenting" your card-making efforts. When finished, the student can send the photos and time-log to CFHK via email at Info@CardsForHospitalizedKids.com along with any service forms they need signed. We can then sign the form and/or write a verification letter on letterhead. Please submit your request at least 5 business days before the deadline. Requests submitted at the last minute may not be verified in time. If we have any concerns about the number of hours logged, we will reach out to the student prior to verifying. However, such cases are rare because most students are honest in logging their hours spent making cards. If you have any questions about the process of earning service hours, please feel free to Contact us. Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: How many service hours do I receive per card?
A: Students frequently ask this question. However, CFHK does not have a formula in which a certain number of cards equals a certain number of service hours. The reason for this is everyone is different, and has their own creativity and artistic skills. Therefore, people typically spend different lengths of time making each individual card. Q: How are service hours calculated? A: CFHK awards the number of service hours solely based on how much time the student spent making cards for CFHK. Q: Can you verify service hours electronically? A: Absolutely! CFHK regularly verifies service hours electronically via programs such as Mobile Serve, X2VOL, etc.. The student can have the verification request sent to: Info@CardsForHospitalizedKids.com. The student still must submit photos of their cards and a time log to CFHK in order for CFHK to process the electronic verification request. Q: When should I email my photos & time log to CFHK? A: Please send these to CFHK when it's time to verify your service. It's best to submit your request at least 4-7 days prior to any deadlines. |
