Stories of Card-Receiving Kids
Below are stories and photos of several of CFHK's card-receiving kids from across the US. Several of the kids featured below are "regular card-receiving patients" who undergo frequent treatments / hospitalizations, due to chronic and/or serious health issues, and receive cards from CFHK regularly. We hope you enjoy reading their stories and seeing the impact of the cards!
Meet PiperPiper is an amazing young girl who was born with a rare esophageal condition. During the summer of 2022, Piper underwent two major surgeries at Boston Children's Hospital to treat her condition. Piper ultimately spent over 10 weeks in the hospital recovering from her surgery.
During that time, Piper received multiple cards from CFHK, including both general and holiday cards, which really brightened her day. Piper's mom expressed appreciation to CFHK for sending strength and smiles to Piper during this difficult time. Piper is now back at home and recovering well. We're excited to continue to support Piper. |

Meet WatsonWatson is a 4 year old boy who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2023. In August 2023, CFHK received an urgent card-referral request for Watson. Unfortunately, his prognosis had become terminal and he was being discharged from St. Jude Children's Hospital. Doctors anticipate he only has a few months so his family decided to celebrate Christmas in September. His whole block is decorating to give Watson one last Christmas. They asked CFHK to make it "rain" cards from all 50 states. So, CFHK quickly mobilized a card-drive for Watson with more than 350 supporters from all 50 states, as well as Canada and Australia, making cards for him. His family is so grateful to CFHK for brightening his day.

Meet CamdenCamden underwent a heart transplant at Lurie Children's Hospital in early 2023 and suffered kidney complications that required him to remain hospitalized for dialysis treatments. He first received cards from CFHK in March of 2023, and it really made his day! Cam now receives cards from CFHK regularly which always brighten his day. He has also received autographs from Athlete supporters like Olympians Aly Raisman, Jake Dalton and others. CFHK also coordinated for the entire Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad to write personalized cards for Cam which really brightened his day! In September, after 180 days in the hospital, Cam was finally discharged to the Ronald McDonald House next to the hospital for a few months before he can go home. We look forward to brightening his day with cards at the RMHC.

Meet TylerTyler is a teen boy battling a heart condition, and who underwent a heart transplant in early 2023. He first received cards from CFHK shortly after he was admitted to Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in January 2023. Tyler's mom said he loved the cards from CFHK, and it made him feel special to receive cards from all over the country as well as a card made the champion University of Florida Women's Gymnastics Team. While in the hospital for several weeks, Tyler received multiple cards from CFHK. Tyler is now home and recovering well. We're so glad we could support Tyler during his many weeks in the hospital.

Meet AllyAlly is a young girl battling stage 4 Nueroblastoma cancer. Despite all she's going through, Ally continues to bravely fight cancer "like a princess". Ally was referred to receive cards from CFHK by a family friend. Receiving the cards, and autograph by Olympic Gold Medalist Aly Raisman, put a smile on Ally's face and provided much needed encouragement. Ally's mom was so thankful to CFHK for providing her daughter some cheer and encouragement during such a difficult time. She said it made heir family feel less alone, as well.
We look forward to continuing to support Ally and distribute cards to her as she continues her treatment and battle against cancer. |

Meet EverlyIn 2020, Everly was diagnosed with Leukemia, and began treatment at the Children's Hospital of IL. Since then, she has received received cards from us monthly, as well as autographs by CFHK celebrity supporters such as Olympic Gold Medalist Aly Raisman, during her regular chemotherapy treatments. Everly's mom said the cards always brings a smile to Everly's face and strengthen her spirit. Her family expressed appreciation to all of our card-making supporters for helping brighten Everly's day. In May 2023, Everly finished her 2 years of Chemotherapy treatment and is doing well. We're so glad we could support Everly through her treatment! Everly's mom plans to make cards for CFHK to help pay it forward!

Meet HenleyHenley is a little girl from Michigan who is battling Leukemia and undergoing weekly Chemotherapy treatments at Devros Children's Hospital. Henley first received cards from CFHK in early 2021 during a Chemo treatment. Her mom said the cards brightened her day and provided much needed encouragement during Chemo.
Since then, Henley has received multiple cards from CFHK as well as an autographs by Olympians Chellsie Memmel and Aly Raisman. Henley's parents are very grateful to CFHK and our card-making supporters. We look forward to continuing to support Henley during her next year of chemo treatments. |
Meet AxelAxel is a cancer patient in Canada who was referred to receive cards from CFHK. He received cards as well as an autograph by Olympian Aly Raisman, a CFHK supporter. Axel is the first CFHK card-receiving patient abroad!!
Axel's mom said the cards from CFHK greatly brightened his day and she expressed her appreciation to CFHK. We look forward to continuing to brighten Axel's day with cards during the next 6 months that he will remain hospitalized undergoing cancer treatment. |

Meet CamrynCamryn is a 3 year old girl with a rare autoimmune disease. She underwent a bone marrow transplant in April 2023, and continues to undergo regular treatments at the hospital. Camryn first received cards from CFHK after her transplant and has several times since then.
Her mom says that she "loves" the cards and enjoys looking through them. Camryn's mom appreciates CFHK for supporting Camryn through this health journey. We look forward to continuing to distribute cards to Camryn during her treatment. |
Meet CooperCooper is an amazing young boy who is battling Leukemia, a form of childhood cancer. He is currently 6 months into chemotherapy treatment. Cooper was referred to receive cards from CFHK by a family friend.
Cooper's mom said receiving cards from CFHK made him smile and brightened his day. They were grateful to CFHK and our card-making supporters. We look forward to continuing to support Cooper during his treatment. |

Meet LilyLily is an amazing teen girl who has to undergo regular medical treatments and hospitalizations at Nationwide Children's Hospital due to a chronic illness. She was initially referred to receive cards from CFHK by her mom, who thought she could use something to brighten her day.
Since then, Lily has gone on to receive cards from CFHK regularly--both general and holiday cards--as well as autographs by CFHK Celebrity supporters like Olympian Aly Raisman. Her mom says the cards always make her smile and bring her joy! Lily even sends us personalized voicemail recordings to say thank you! We look forward to continuing to support Lily and her family. |

Meet KylieKylie was diagnosed with a serious form of childhood cancer, called rhabdomyosarcoma, in 2022. She is currently bravely fighting her battle against cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Children's Hospital.
Kylie was referred to receive a card by a family friend. Since then, Kylie has received several cards from CFHK. Her family expresses appreciation for thinking of Kylie and making her smile. Kylie's mom said the cards bring her joy and that she enjoys looking through each one. We look forward to continuing to support Kylie during treatment. |
Meet CallieIn 2012, Callie was diagnosed with Leukemia, and underwent over a year of regular Chemotherapy treatments at the Children's Hospital in Atlanta. During her treatment, Callie received multiple cards from CFHK as well as autographs from CFHK celebrity supporter Lauren Conrad. The cards continually brightened Callie's day and made her smile. It meant a lot to her family to know someone was thinking of their family during this difficult time. Callie is a true example of the impact that the cards have and she is a true inspiration.
Callie is now in remission from cancer and enjoying her childhood. Her family continues to keep in touch with our team and support CFHK. |
Meet DamonIn 2011, Damon was diagnosed with cancer and began Chemotherapy. Damon received multiple general and holiday cards from CFHK throughout his treatment as well as autographs by CFHK celebrity & athlete supporters. It meant a lot to Damon to know someone was thinking of him and sending encouragement during such a difficult time. His family was very appreciative to CFHK as well.
Damon is now in remission from cancer. |

Meet MackenzieIn 2011, Mackenzie spent weeks at Lurie Children's Hospital waiting for a heart transplant and then recovering after the transplant. She was missing out on her senior year of high school, her friends and normal life. It was very difficult.
She received multiple cards from us during that time that really impacted her. It even inspired Mackenzie to get involved with CFHK after she recovered. Mackenzie is doing well post-transplant. She now works in the healthcare industry helping other transplant patients. |
Meet ErinErin first received a card and autograph by Lauren Conrad from us while she was undergoing cancer treatment.
Sadly, Erin's condition worsened. As it unfolded, we sent Erin another card and one for her sister, Lea, with whom Erin was very close. It meant a lot to Erin and her family. Erin lost her brave battle to cancer in 2012. Her bravery continues to inspire us. We continue to remain in touch with her family who continue to support CFHK. |
